Expanding on our three and four day options, our 5 day fly fishing charter packages in Tasmania are perfect for those looking for the ultimate fly fishing experience.

Additional days can be spent exploring a range of lake, river and stream options around Hobart, Launceston and the Central Highlands, allowing you to maximise your time on the water as well as hone your skills and learn different techniques with assistance from our fully qualified guides.

To make the most of your trip, we recommend bringing warm clothes, a hat and sunglasses, and a current Tasmanian angling license, which can be easily obtained through the Inland Fisheries Service. Personal fly fishing gear is optional — all essential equipment is provided — and most importantly, bring a sense of adventure and a desire to experience the raw beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness.

Your itinerary

Day 1

  • Pick up from your accommodation in Hobart at 7.30am and depart for Miena with your guide (approx. 1.5-hour drive) or meet in Miena at 9am.
  • Fishing at our privately accessed lake, Herne Lagoon, for a day to settle into the fishing and enjoy a freshly cooked lunch next to an open fire.
  • Check In to your accommodation at the end of the day’s fishing for a warm shower, hearty meal and cold beer.

Day 2 – 4

  • Pick up from your accommodation at 8.30am each day to fish a range of lakes and rivers, exploring different areas and techniques along the way.
  • Returning to your accommodation each afternoon to rejuvenate for the next day’s adventures.

Day 5

  • Check Out of your accommodation before pick up, completing your last day’s fishing at a lake nearby.
  • Return back to Hobart with your guide at the end of the day’s fishing, or continue your travels from Miena.

Can you pick up from Hobart CBD hotels?

Absolutely - we can pick guests up from any Hobart CBD hotels, AirBNB's and surrounding areas. Just let us know your pickup point after booking confirmation (we can also help recommend some places for you to stay).

What should I bring?

Some handy items and attitudes to bring along to your trip include a desire to experience Tassie's wilderness, a current Tasmanian angling license (available through Inland Fisheries Service) and especially warm clothes, hat and polarised sunglasses. We send out a more detailed pack upon booking confirmation with everything you need to pack.

What season is best for trout fishing in Tasmania?

Tasmania’s main trout fishing season runs from the first weekend in August to the last weekend in April. During this time, most trout fishing waters are open and good numbers of trout can be caught using a variety of techniques to suit the time of the year and conditions on the day.
