Currawong's three lakes each offer a different character. From open shorelines to sheltered bays fringed by native bushland, there is always somewhere fishing well regardless of wind or conditions.
The fishing is fly-only and heavily weighted towards dry fly and sight fishing. Spectacular hatches of Red Spinners run from October through March, while Blue Damsel and midge activity keep trout active across the season. Fish are wild, self-sustaining, and average around 3 pounds, with genuine double-figure trophy fish a real possibility.
Your guide will rotate you across the three lakes, reading conditions each morning to put you on the best water. Whether you are a seasoned angler or picking up a fly rod for the first time, the guiding is tailored to your experience level.
After a full day on the lakes, return to your accommodation at Currawong to unwind. The property's cabins and lodges sit among native bushland, offering a genuine sense of remoteness and stillness.
Evenings are spent relaxing by the fire, sharing stories from the day and enjoying catered meals. With only four anglers per departure, the atmosphere is unhurried and personal. Beyond the fishing, Currawong also offers clay target shooting, ATV tours and some of Tasmania's finest birdwatching.
